Numerical investigation of the fluid structure acoustics interaction on a simplified car model

Part of vehicle interior noise is caused by the complex turbulent flow field behind a-pillar and side mirror. It excites structure window, which radiates into interior. Both aerodynamic pressure excitation acoustic sound sources in play an important role. In this work, influence both mechanisms investigated numerically a hybrid simulation on simplified car geometry. The generic model allows for exact definition boundary conditions good reproducibility results. An incompressible Large-Eddy-Simulation (LES) conducted, from source terms within transient fluid forces acting surface window are extracted. This data used coupled vibroacoustic aeroacoustic passenger cabin vehicle.
